I am very excited about the upcoming movie What to Expect When You’re Expecting. It feels like just yesterday that I was lovingly clutching my pregnant belly! That was 23 months ago. I have learned quite a bit during those 40 weeks of massive change. I wouldn't call myself a "pro" but have gained confidence & wisdom!
Our pregnancy was our FIRST! We read up & "prepared" ourselves by learning all that we could before the big day. We had a copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting by Heidi Murkoff, we watched The Business of Being Born produced by Ricki Lake (amongst countless other documentaries), we went to doctors appointments, and took birthing classes together.
I took my prenatal vitamins! I actually began taking them well before becoming pregnant on the doctors advice that it may help with my overall health & health of baby. Since I am of "advanced maternal aged" I took as many precautions as I could. Result: Mom & Baby were (are) healthy, I am glad that I took the doctor's advice!
IF we should be blessed with a second child, I think we have the basics down! BUT they always tell me that every pregnancy is different!
For me what was happily unexpected: NO morning sickness, NO panic once the contractions started & throughout labor and delivery, and NO diaper changes during our hospital stay (Hero Hubby-Daddy).
Not-so-happily unexpected: 50 pound weight gain, episiotomy, and retained placenta.
I am normally a slave to my cravings but surprisingly I did not have any food cravings or aversions at all. I thought cravings & pregnancy went hand in hand. I was wrong about that.
GIVEAWAY: Five (5) Mommied Life by Cynthia readers will win a pair of tickets for an advanced screening here in San Diego, CA! The movie release is May 18th but we will get a sneak peak! Winners & guests will get a FREE t-shirt on the day of the event. We will all wear them for our photo opp. AND a goody bag to take home of course! Interested? Stay tuned for more details. ReplyDeleteThe Budget Diet Thank you for stopping by! The movie trailer looks hilarious! I can hardly wait!
ReplyDeleteHi there, Cynthia! :) Stopping by from VoiceBoks! :) Wow, I didn't even know there was a WTEWYE movie! Way cool! I wonder if they'll air it here in the Philippines. :) Blessings on you and your family!
ReplyDeleteYou know what? For mother's day, I'm in the front row.
ReplyDeleteI am actually quite surprised they are making a movie out of the book. Bizarre!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see this movie! I just don't know if I can make it tomorrow at 2pm. =( I do plan on watching it at some point!
ReplyDelete@Melanie - sorry for the confusion. The entry period ends at 2pm - movie screens at 7 but winner needs to be present at by 6:20PM to receive prizes & photo OP
ReplyDeleteMy first pregnancy was unexpected as my Dr told me I would have a hard time conceiving after a LEEP procedure. A week after the ok to have sex, we conceived. I did not expect the bad sciatica pains, gestational diabetes and early contractions. Sick as a dog throughout my first trimester was miserable. With Pre eclampsia and several issues and scares including early induction....its surprising we had another!
ReplyDeleteI'm also looking forward to seeing this movie...someday...on dvd, probably. I had an easy pregnancy but I also had a retained placenta with my first baby--no fun at all!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any children yet but I'm hoping to soon. I've read a lot about it, I've talked to a lot of moms about it, but I know enough to know that there will still be plenty of surprises!
ReplyDeleteThis movie looks good! I had all different kinds of pregnancies, never felt pretty at all. Wish I could enter, but I am not in CA. thanks for offering.
ReplyDeleteFirst in line sista! I wish I looked like whats her face when I was that pregnant. I swear, all 6 kids, I started showing at conception!
ReplyDeleteNo one told me we would get constipated! LOL or not so LOL!
ReplyDeleteLeigh

ReplyDeleteOh I would LOVE to see it!!!!!!!!! I hated the book as I felt it was just to freaky for moms, but this movie looks adorable :) :) :)
