Christmas Traditions

Our Christmas Tree concern this year was making sure that it would be Toddler Friendly. We didn't want to worry about our son being injured by breakables or the mess of fallen pine needles (even though we normally love the look, smell, and holiday feel of a real tree).  My idea of using toys in the tree was a success! Our son loved it, we loved it, and we are thinking of adding it to our family holiday traditions. Last year we introduced our son to his very own Nativity Set and brought it out again this year.  Even prior to the birth or our son last year, we attend the Children's Christmas Mass which is such a beautiful service. The angelic voices of the Children's Choir moves me to tears.  As our son (and our family) grows, so does our photos/video collection, our traditions, and our cherished memories!

P.S. My daughter has the same play nativity your son is playing with. :) He's adorable, by the way. <3

  2. @Courtney Pies Thank you! Thank you for visiting & leaving a comment. I will catch up with you in the morning. Must get some Zzz's for work tomorrow :) Plus, I took some allergy meds that have made me SUPER drowsy.

P.S. Isn't it such a great set? We love it.

  3. Beautiful post! We put stuffed ornaments on the bottom of our tree too. Busy little fingers.

  4. Cynthia, I am SO happy you introduced the nativity to your son. My husband's biggest pet peave about being married to an American girl is my obsession with Santa (even though I give more time to the Nativity than to Santa in all fairness). He has this belief that we have taken all the Christ out of Christmas and he's right. It's so nice to see this isn't the case. Toys in the tree? Great idea.

  5. I love the idea of decorating with toys!! That is great!!! Your son is just precious!!!

I bought the same nativity set for my nephew two years ago and he loves it. My son, now 13, loved it when he was in a church pre-school. I love the idea of the kids playing with the nativity. My kids got use to playing with my real one!!!

I love reading your posts about your family!! Love to you!!

  6. You know, I never thought of using toddler-friendly Christmas decorations. It's a wonderful idea though and perhaps one that my mom won't like. She's the creative and crafty one and is in charge of all decorations. Haha

  7. Cynthia, I absolutely liked the idea of toys on the tree! We had our glass ornaments but we placed a barrier so our toddler would not get near the tree. It would take some convincing to get my husband on board. For me, it is marvelous! Happy New Year!
