8 Pounds 3 Ounces

8 lbs 3 oz = Not only the weight of my child at birth but the amount left for me to lose!  I have blogged about the "Baby Weight" (The Skinny) but haven't updated.  To my surprise I have been continuously losing weight even though I have not been actively trying to. To date I have lost about 43 lbs. If I lose the equivalent to what my baby's birth weight was I will be back to my pre-pregnancy weight!  As long as I get there by May 19, 2011 I'll be a happy camper.  Isn't it funny how we are uncomfortable divulging our weight?  I was uncomfortable discussing it at first.  I must say that there is something liberating in just letting it all "hang out".  I'm Curious...how much weight did you put on during pregnancy?  How long did it take to take off? HOW did you do it?

If you still have the heebie-jeebies about admitting weight = no worries!  I totally understand.  It's unfair to put anyone on the spot. Heebie-Jeebie's. I just love saying that. Heebie-Jeebies. Heebie-Jeebies. Heebie-Jeebies.  That was fun.  Who wants to make a bet that NO ONE will reveal their weight?

  4. @mommysankey Personally I'm shocked that it came off! Thanking my lucky stars for sure. Now the hard part - working off those last bits! Ugh...Thanks for wishing me luck I definitely need it. Once I'm brave enough I'll post before & after pics (maybe). Ha, I don't know if want to give anyone a visual of me but picture this: 5'3" & 180 lbs (which was my last weigh in the day before our son was born).

  5. For baby #1 I breastfed & ate vegetarian. I ended up EASILY dropping the 40-is lbs I gained during pregnancy... in about 3 months or so... and then dropped an additional 10-ish! I felt amazing! I could eat anything I wanted, and not have to worry about gaining a thing... I found the golden ticket... and nothing could go wrong. But... as soon as i stopped nursing, and instantly hopped right back to my normal, pre-pregnancy weight. I also nursed around the clock... even 2-3 times at night... so I think my body was constantly burning more calories than I consumed just to keep up with the nursing.

  6. @Lisa Brown Awesome! That's quick - 3 months?! I agree and think it is the breastfeeding that helped me too. Thanks for sharing! Cynthia

  7. I am trying to lose some weight BEFORE I get pregnant!
I am trying to lose about 10 pounds and it is taking forever. I started Weight Watchers online and so far it has been pretty simple.
Way to go droping 40 pounds! Maybe the last few will melt away just as easy!

  9. Drink lots of water and walk as much as you can. Now that the weather's warming up, hopefully you can take lots of nice walks with your baby.

  10. @Andrew Thanks for commenting. Yes, walking is great. My Hubby is my biggest motivator & gives me that nudge to do it! We take our family walks in our neighborhood. Luckily we are in Sunny California! Well...not so lucky lately as it's been cold & rainy recently. BTW, checked out your shopping site which looks good but will have to wait until my shopping ban ends. Cynthia

  11. Hi Cynthia,
How wise you are to see that none of us will reveal our real weight! I did lose 25 pounds just giving birth but I had gained 35-40. It came off with breastfeeding, then I put some back on again, then I got pregnant with #2 and lost a huge amount breastfeeding again. My conclusion: I really can't blame ANY weight issues I ever had on pregnancy. From my perspective that would be an easy excuse (for me). Truth is - the extra weight was the Hagen Daz more than the pregnancy. (-:
PS: Thanks for stopping by my blog. You flatter me so! (-:

  12. Oh - one other comment on the topic of pregnancy and weight. I know a woman who did sit ups all through her first trimester, in a specific effort to minimize the size of her pregnant belly. I am not Italian or anything but I get like an old woman - I think that pregnant women should eat whatever they want and crave - I get nervous when I see a thin, underfed pregnant woman. My babies were both over 10 pounds when they were born. Then eventually I lost all the pregnancy weight. I was just happy they were born healthy.

  13. @Ado Thank you for commenting. At first I didn't want to admit my weight but just looking at me it was obvious that I was chubby. It's hard for a shorty like me to hide the pregnancy weight.

I'm with you & old women (Italian included)! I ate what & when I wanted (minus sushi) and had a healthy 8 pounder. Wow, 10 pounds babies, you're awesome! Ado you're my blog hero.

  14. Hi again Cynthia,
Well it was great to have 10 pounders in one way, but...the first one had to be pried out man. She would not budge! They finally used some sort of Hoover to get her out.
An BTW, an 8 pound baby is a very healthy bouncing one!
And I am tall so the problem with that is you can gain a lot of weight without really getting urgent about it - and then if you lose say, 20 pounds, people won't really notice - they're like: "Did you get a haircut or something?" (-:
